![]() Before he attempted to gain this immortality, he enlisted the help of another Sester of the Order…one that would later become the Corrupted Sester due to the failure of their plans. The Dark Father is the Chained Prisoner, who greedily drank the true Nektar in an attempt to capitalize on Solomon’s (his brother) discovery and work to become immortal…it backfired on him and turned him into the giant bird being. Since they’re physically incapable of Defense, they are protected by their own Guardians: The Revered are Alien Beings that fell from the sky and were helmed as the core of each of the 3 religions…basically sort of Demigods due to their ability to produce Nektar. Solomon and his brother had travelled from their own homeland to Fallgrim and worked alongside this Cult. The Obsidian Fortress/Synod: Madness/Contradiction, incomprehension of the Revered and the Future. The Ice Crypt: Perfection, Worship of the Immaculate and the Past. The Fire Temple: Self Harm, Physical Suffering and the Present. Each represent certain actions and one aspect of time. The Revered are the protected beings at the very seat of each 3 temples. I think some points of the lore go like this: As the Foundling, you basically collect the glands from the three Revered, give them to the Dark Father who wants to ascend, only to kill him and take HIS gland, which is now an amalgamation of all the Unborn, and instead ascend yourself. These were supposed to be a way to create Pure Nektar, but they ended up abandoned and lost. Hadern and Solomon then discovered the Seedlings, of which the Foundling is one. People loved drinking this, and it twisted them into inhuman monsters. The Unborn also secrete tar, which is like a watered down version of their powers. Apparently sacrificing people's blood, flesh, and memories to satiate parasites from the Void can do that. They set up a religion to "sell" this to the people, and over time, a madness descends on humanity. Three more folks bind successfully and become Revered, but in order to keep a semblance of humanity, Solomon creates three "sacraments" to feed the Unborn. He loses all semblance of his humanity and is chained up for it. The first person (Revered) to try one literally consumed it and bound with it directly. This creature has parasites, called the Unborn, and those parasites, when bound to a human, grant immortality. They discover a creature from the Void, a Wormfish. In Fallgrim, a group of scholars, led by Solomon, make an amazing discovery. Mankind has been searching for a way to be immortal ever since Sin made them mortal.
